At least one writer suggested that the chupacabra had language skills and could understand spoken Spanish (including profanities), as seen in this description of an eyewitness’s encounter: “The housewife’s eyes met those of the inhuman creature and stared it down, as she thought aloud, ‘If you’re the Chupacabras, you’re a pretty sorry excuse for a creature,’ then promptly added the abusive word pendejo to her thought. The gargoylesque entity slowly covered its pointed face with its wings, as if hurt by her rebuff. It moved away from its position, slinked against a wall, and half hid behind a washing machine.”
