i can’t wait till holograms are possible to do in your own home for super cheap so i can have illegal ass hatsune miku concerts in my backyard.

they…kinda are, actually! in a way.
you can make your own life-size “VOCALOID-style” hologram concert in your backyard with these few steps:

1. Follow THIS tutorial to set up a “Pepper’s Ghost illusion” using white close-mesh fabric and a classroom projector. (It also mentions how to set up a “frame” for the screen of sorts using a clothesline.)

2. Go to YouTube and search for “hologram ready.” These are MMD videos with stationary camera and black backgrounds, created for the purpose of use in homemade hologram “concerts.” Good ones will have high FPS, video quality, and animation (no clipping, realistic non-jerky movement, facial animation). Some will even have “built-in” effects like particles or static. Those can be super cool too!

and uhhhh that’s basically it! Get yourself some very loud outdoor speakers and some glowsticks and have yourself a wonderful VOCALOID-filled time. (now that I think about it, this would be an AWESOME idea for a VOCALOID-themed birthday party or something!)

(Oh, and I would also recommend getting those programmable Christmas lights for extra stage decoration and effect. They might be cool too!)

Thanks @roboticreplication for yet another useful tip!
