The Jersey devil is one of my favorite cryptids. Not because it is reasonable. Quite the contrary. The jersey devil looks as if someone had taken one of those “make your own animal” books that I adored so much as a kid
and filled it entirely with animals that are mythologically connected with the underworld
Its so illogical! Why does it have horseshoes on cloven hooves? why crane legs? Is that a bear ear or horns? And what even is that tail? I LOVE IT!
