askterry: Croissants are Mexican food now?


The Pastry War was the first Franco-Mexican War, began in November 1838 and ended with a British-brokered peace in March 1839.

As part of the peace treaty, the British found a controversial addendum wherein the French demanded the rights to make Churros® into a French cultural property, which was sanctioned with not only it’s denial, but also by allowing Croissants® to become a Mexican bread, thus creting a common ground for further diplomatic relationships.
