POKEDDEXY CHALLENGE DAY 1
-Favorite Dark Type-
Murkrow, the Darkness Pokémon
Unlike Shuckle from yesterday, Murkrow isn’t a mishmash of weird things. It’s literally just a carrion crow with a witch motiv. It’s also a Dark/Flying dual-type, as you would guess from it’s appearance. It can, like it’s real-life counterpart, mimic human speech, as seen in the Rocket Hideout in Gold and Silver. (Some species of) Crows are generally considered to be some of the most intelligent birds, capable of using tools, or baiting fish with bread.
As for Murkrows ingame abilities… well, as most not-fully-evolved Pokémon, Murkrow isn’t exactly amazing. It has mediocre stats of 60/85/42/85/42/91. BUT! Murkrow does have one little trick up it’s sleeve that it’s evolution, Honchkrow, does not have access to: the hidden ability Prankster (Prankster becomes Moxie when Murkrow is evolved).
Prankster is an ability that gives all moves classified as “status” moves to gain priority, making them go first, even if the opponent is faster. Murkrow has access to pleanty of annoying status moves: Quash, Thunder Wave, Feather Dance, Whirlwind, Confuse Ray and Tailwind, only to name a few. Give Murkrow HP and Def/SDef EVs and an Eviolite to hold and you’ve got a VERY annoying supporter. They do say crows bring bad luck.
Like Shuckle, Murkrow has an amazing german name: Kramurx.
I honestly cannot explain why Murkrow is my favorite Dark type. Probably because I’m not too fond of most of ‘em. Murkrow has a very appealing and a little goofy design, funny animations and an amazing cry. It’s also super annoying in battle and works decently in double battles, which are my preferred playstyle.
And that’s that with Day 2! Stay tuned for tomorrow, when I deal with the ever-popular Dragon type!
is everypoke gonna be smoking? -.-
cuz if so I can’t wait to see the fire and poison types - 3-
