Remember that ship thing in Homestuck where people hated each other to death and found that somehow hot?

That was the fandom misinterpretation. An ideal black romance was just “they kind of get on each other’s nerves, but love each other.” Actually hurting each other in any way was considered a breach of that.

That seems like a very dysfunctional relationship
