Mom needed a specific shirt for her autistic daughter — and the internet delivered
10-year-old Cami Skouson has had a favorite shirt for five years. But as her mom Deborah wrote on Facebook, they’ve gone through 5 of them and it’s now become increasingly harder to find it. After her plea for help went viral, kind citizens of the internet began sending her the shirt — a lot of them.
Skouson’s post was reposted to the page Love What Matters, where it quickly garnered more than 13,000 shares. The internet responded to Skouson’s request in full, ultimately sending the family more than 150 “flower shirts.”
“At first, my daughter was a little confused to see more than one of her ‘pink flower shirts,’” she told the Daily Dot. “I explained to her that people gave them to her because they loved her.”
If that isn’t a happy enough ending for you, Skouson said she also heard from Target, who offered to send her a larger version of the shirt so Cami could wear it as she grew older.
“I accepted their offer with tears streaming down my face,” Skouson said. “The kindness being shown my little girl has been so beautiful.”
Literally reading this brought tears to my eyes
