If you read the article, this is actually pretty humane and a good thing.

Basically, there is a place that has ponies they give rides to kids on, and as they start to get too old they are retired. Often times they are just thrown away, killed and probably all their meat wasted, literally worked till too old to work anymore, then disposed of.

This place with the help of another group, takes the animals and puts their meats and bodies to use rather than being probably thrown into a ditch or burned or just made into pet food when horse meat is so healthy compared to beef.

Horse tastes amazing. We honour the fallen by making them a part of us <3

Otherwise they just end up in a huge meat grinder and get turned into dog food. What a waste.
