So is the Death Star’s explosion strong enough for the debris to reach its own escape velocity? Or does it all collapse back into a planetoid?

that-goddamn-owl answered: who knows, the explosions depicted show that everything went away (including Vader’s helmet) but that might be due to SFX limitations, there mere fact that something actually stayed together means there wasn’t enough energy to collapse back…

deeceeoh answered: I think one of the official explainations is that some sort of wormhole opened up after the core exploded, swallowing most of the debris.
