It’s funny how Americans find everything offensive now. They miss out on a lot of humor for the sake of being politically correct. And that saddens me, mostly because I seek american entertainment more than Latin American, because it’s made with far more production quality.
I miss when we had cartoons like Speedy Gonzales. I mean, he’s still there, but not as he used to be. A lot of Speedy Gonzales cartoons were a parody of Mexicans crossing the border, I didn’t realize that as a kid, but when I realized that was the case I found them even more hilarious than before.
Every day you see people getting offended by things like “OMG! This video game only has ONE [insert ethnicity] character in it! That’s racist!”
And I’m just sitting here laughing my ass off when I see this:
Just enjoy things and don’t take them that seriously.
And I’m not speaking only for myself here. A lot of friends and I agree on this. Because believe it or not, stereotypes are funny a lot of times. And there ARE ways of exploiting that humor without being racist.
A great example of that is the Canadian video game Guacamelee; which pretty much exploits every Mexican stereotype in the book without being racist.
I just wish people would stop being so offended about everything all the time.
