… Right, I keep forgetting I have more followers than him, so most of you probably knew me before you knew him. I’m too used to the logical principle of “superior artist = more followers” but apparently that doesn’t apply to him.

Well, I’ve known gearholder​ since… long before that. I dunno, it’s surprisingly hard to pinpoint how long I’ve known him. Usually I’ve got a pretty good idea… At least a year, based on the old posts I can find. He drew this old icon for me eleven months ago, and he even knew about my freckles, which is something I tried to keep quiet back in the day, so we had to already know one another pretty well back then, even if I don’t remember for how long.

To be honest, for a long time he was kind of a… a side-friend. A contact. Not really on the forefront. Like the secondary character that’s there and who you like well enough but whose arc doesn’t really go anywhere. I think he became more prominent… about four months ago? At any rate, he’s definitely part of the “inner circle” of friends now.

Wasn’t until about last month that his apparent crush on me became a big deal. I guess I always kind of suspected he’d be interested in me, he was about that type, but I suspect that of a lot of people, simply because I have a notoriously inflated ego, so I didn’t pay it much mind.

The turning point came when he somehow found and reblogged this (admittedly really cool) picture of a blonde boxer (source) and tagged it with the words “bells ringing,” more than likely noting that it reminded him of me.

An anon noticed and called him out on it, after which he swiftly proceeded to make a fool of himself as only he can (link), leading another anon to theorize that he “has the hots for me,” which he then confirmed. (link)

To really answer your question, I suppose that is when he received the title of “friend/person with an adorable crush on you.”

I must admit that his affections are not entirely unrequited, but it’s simply not a practical option to pursue, so I’m content with just flirting the hell out of him.
