Gravity Versus Equestria by elyonblade

lizzymodblog

Wait, maybe I’m stupid, but how does the existence of gravity oppose the “gods raising the sun and moon” thing?

I mean, sure, the sun goes around the earth in their universe, that’s fine, but there can still be gravity, right? If anything’s effected it’d be the tides or something.

The physical problem there is that it’s impossible within the known laws of science for a star to be small enough in mass to orbit the Earth. Gravitational confinement, the method by which most stars achieve nuclear fusion, requires masses many orders of magnitude higher than that of the Earth.

However, since magic falls outside of known physics, it could be so, easily. Their Sun could be some kind of ‘magically confined fusion device’.

My favorite headcanon is that their star is an Eye of Harmnony:

And that this thing is a TARDIS Architectural Reconfiguration System:

And that their entire planetary system is a TARDIS that turned inside-out and created its own little fantasy world out of Time-War induced insanity.

The Mane 6 are the reincarnated personalities of the six original Tardis pilots. She misses them, so she’s trying to rebuild them, but she’s crazy, so: horses.

[Yes, I am a nerd.]

I’m gonna ignore all the doctor who bullshit you just pulled.

Maybe Equestria is just a way bigger fucking planet than the earth as we know it, bigger than a star? Far-fetched, but stranger things have happened.

Naw, if a planet was more massive than a star, it would collapse in on itself and become something like a star. Even if it was completely ‘burned out’, the best you could do is a gas giant.

How about… Celestia actually controls Equestria´s orbit around the sun, rather than the opposite, but they just tell everyone she’s controlling the sun instead because the general populace is too stupid to understand?

Conceivable, except she’s be manipulating the rotation of the planet about its axis, not its orbit.

There is one problem, though.

The nighttime sky moves with the moon;

And their Moon only comes up at night.

The kind of distortion pictured suggests that magic bends space-time.

The “Sun” and “Moon” they rise are actually within equestrian orbit and not the real sun and moon, and they each cast a “day” or “night” veil that blocks the actual sky all over Equestria.

They developed this magic along with weather-controlling pegasi and crops-controlling earth ponies to allow a completely controlled environment on their land.
