Women: Complain that men are keeping women out of gaming

This shit keeps getting better and better.

This makes me sad. TFYC is a fantastic organization that, rather than just complain about things, puts forward an effort to make it happen. They’re also holding a campaign for Black men and women to create graphic novel characters, in an effort to promote diversity in science fiction.

And despite this they’ve had people falling down on them for every tiny little thing, most likely because they’ve spoken out against Zoe Quinn (rightfully, as she tried to shut down their original Women in Gaming campaign) and also in support of GamerGate, which Twitter has decided to deem just a means of insulting women, but is actually a legitimate attempt to ask for some decency in games journalism (which it’s been proven that gaming journalism has roughly the same level of credibility as the tabloid that prints Bat Boy).

I feel bad. I do. That efforts to actually help people get a jump in the business are being thwarted this way. That people love to complain but the minute someone actually tries to help, to do something productive and tangible, it either goes ignored, or worse, ends up like this.

So here’s my little promotion for you guys - I personally think you’re awesome. Keep up the good work.

you know what the real sad part is?
that this kind of information will never get to those who need to read it, it will stay in the circle of people willing to criticize those things that most people are too afraid to criticize and it will keep happening.
it happened with religion, it happened with politics and its happening with social movements.
