…are you sure you’re not secretly three lesbians in a trench coat?

Just Canadian, I’m afraid.

My lesbian cousin once complained to me that as she went farther north, her flannel ceased to be a useful signal.

I’m sure there’s a fascinating paper to be written on the aesthetic overlap between American lesbian culture and Canadian lumberjack culture - but I’m sure as heck not qualified to write it!

Armenian genocide: survivors recall events 100 years on

To this day, the quote I read in a survivors biography in 7th grade still haunts me. “Who does now remember the Armenians?”

You know who said that? Hitler. Adolf Hitler, as a way to justify the Holocaust. Because the world turned a blind eye to the Armenian genocide, he thought the world would turn its back to the Holocaust.

The worst part is, he was right. America, Europe, the governments knew what was going on. And they ignored it. Now, more than ever, remember the Armenians. Remember the Cambodians, Rwandans, Jews. Never again means now.

This is true btw. I did a report about Ann Boney in school and Read actually liked her back so they ran away together and were considered the two most terrifying pirates across the seven seas

Lesbian Pirates

Give us this film

Just fyi - many of the illustrations and statues of them show them with their breasts exposed.  This is not because they are sexualising lesbians but because these women often used to open their shirts and expose a breast when they killed a man just so the man’s dying thought would be the realisation that he was killed by a woman.

tits out for murder!!! a true aesthetic!!!

@siderarum

OKAY SO Ann Bonny was disgused on Calico Jack’s ship. They were both lovers, but when Ann Bonny found out that Mary Read (who was also on the ship) was a girl they began to spend a lot of time together. Calico Jack wasn’t happy that Ann Bonny was spending so much time with this guy and threatened to kill Mary Read. When Ann Bonny told Calico Jack that Mary Read was a girl he was all like “hmm k that’s cool.” Anywho, Ive read in different articles and books (I need to find where) that the three of them began to spend a lot of time TOGETHER so it’s safe to say that the three were in a relationship.

In the end tho they were caught (all the men were drunk as shit and surrendered) but Ann Bonny and Mary Read held their own against a whole ship of men who tried to capture them. They managed to kill several men before ultimately being captured. Ann Bonny told Calico Jack before he was hung that “If you had fought like a man, you need not have been hang’d like a dog.”

Mary Read and Ann Bonny weren’t hung because they “pleaded their bellies” which ment that they were both pregnant. Mary Read died in prison, however, there is no record of what happened to Ann Bonny. Many believe that she too died but others think that her rich father paid off some dudes and she spent the rest of her life in Cuba.

So yeah poly pirates

My favorite thing about One Piece’s SBS corners is discovering what characters were inspired by certain actors. Because some of them are just bizarre.

Like with Franky = Jim Carrey you look at it and think

image

“Okay makes sense. They’re similar both in their outlandish personalities and hairstyle.

Then you see Borsalino = Kuni Tanaka and you’re like

image

“So that explains his weird face. The only way Oda could’ve thought of such a weird face is if it existed in real life. Interesting.”

Then you see Jango = Steven Tyler and you’re like

image

“Ah. Only one guy has such wide lips and scrawny nose and jaw line. I can see him singing an Aerosmith song.”

But then you see Sanji = Steve Buscemi and you’re like

image

“I’m sorry, but   𝕎 ℍ 𝔸 𝕋 ? !? ?! ? ! ? ! ?”

A younger Steve buscemi tho. From Reservoir Dogs.
