The city of Memphis wanted the statues removed, but their state’s legislature decided to be a big bag of dicks about it and passed a law forbidding them from doing so.
To get around this, a plan was devised: the city could sell the parks to a private organization and now that it was private property, the state couldn’t tell them what they could and couldn’t do with that property.
The city counsel voted under cover of darkness to sell the park to the non-profit run by these men, and construction vehicles immediately moved in to remove the statues. They were gone by morning.
Like… this is still #BlackExcellence because (and correct me if I’m wrong here) Memphis is a predominantly black city. I just think it’s important to remember that this was a community effort and not the work of individuals. Fascists love to worship the narratives of “Great Men.” It is the responsibility of the resistance to remember that nothing can happen without the support of the community.
this is one of the big problems of telling people who want to abort a child that they should put it up for adoption. What kind of person would knowingly put a baby into a system where this knd of thing is happens? It doesn’t happen to every child obviously, but who would play these oldds?
This guy is a white nationalist with a history of domestic abuse. The location of her foster home is almost certainly being withheld from him for the daughter’s protection from him specifically. He is using her removal to push the “pedogate” conspiracy theory where a “satanic cabal of elites” kidnap white children from heterosexual christian homes and sell them to pedophiles on behalf of the “New World Order.”
You might remember this conspiracy theory as “pizzagate,” the accusation that Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager was coordinating this sinister deep state network of pedophiles with coded messages in her campaign emails, specifically predicated on the believe that “cheese pizza” was a code word for “child pornography” because they both share the initials C.P.
Based on this, these conspiracy theorists proposed that a D.C. based pizza shop was actually a front for this sinister cabal and that the trafficking ring was operated out of their basement. They even posted a picture of Barack Obama playing table tennis with a child at the pizza shop, attempting to suggest he might be in on the conspiracy! Incidentally, the picture of Obama playing table tennis with a child was taken in the white house, not the pizza shop, and the pizza shop in question had neither a basement nor a child sex ring on the premises.
His tweet, ALL his tweets, are very specifically intended as alt-right conspiracy propaganda. They operation is part of their “swarmfront” playbook, where they seed the basis of their ideology in more innocuous forms on social media so that when people encounter the full-on neo-nazi version, they’re more primed to accept it because they already accepted the basic premise. I’m not saying there aren’t problems with abuse in the foster system– obviously there are– but the pedogate conspiracy theory, the one that this white nationalist is such a vehement believer in, is a recruitment tool designed by neo-nazis to get people to believe their bonkers lies about Jewish people secretly running the world and preying on christian children.
This is not an “it seems like” or a “probably.” I’ve seen their literature. This is something they very openly admit to doing among their own ranks. First they invent a crime committed against a white child. Then they blame the government. Then they claim there’s a sinister group running the government and targeting the children. And then, if you’ve already fallen for those three lies, you’re much more likely to fall for the blatantly racist and antisemitic versions of them!
Please, PLEASE look into this sort of stuff before you share it uncritically. I know we all have good intentions, but unfortunately that’s what the people who create propaganda like this are counting on– people with good intentions giving the benefit of the doubt
I really enjoyed watching Arin’s scrapped games videos it’s a good example of being proud of gaining experience even when things don’t work out like you wanted them to.
