Big news! Penguin is publishing a book of my fairy tales called Alice in Tumblr-land: And Other Fairy Tales for a New Generation. Out 10/29!

240 pages of 150 illustrated fairy tales. Over 70% of the stories are new, and nearly every illustration is new.

Certain characters reappear throughout the book—like Alice, Peter Pan, and Cinderella—with an overarching narrative. So you can read it cover to cover and get the larger story, or you can open up to any page and find a laugh.

I mean we got fat trees with little branches, fat trees with little branches and flowers on the branches, trees that look like potatoes but with tiny branches, flowers coming out of tiny branches with no trees attached, lots of branches coming out of skinny trees and hairy Rorschach-esque flowers!!

What a bountiful treasure trove of diversified organisms :3

I like the idea of more ponies having one eye shiny - and since Trixie has this naturally, by animation error or not, it’s still there and I always liked it. Call me nit-picky, but I wish people would stop drawing her with two eye shinies. Of course it doesn’t take away from the art, though, it’s just something I noticed.

I’ve never honestly understood stances like this, and this isn’t the first time I’ve seen it.

It’s like, does a 1:1 recreation of the show’s style matter that much? Not to mention something as mundane as ‘eye shinies’ doesn’t even stay consistent, and tends to jump around based on angle and emotion.
