#549 Lilligant, the Flowering Pokémon

Lilligant is horribly cute. Generally, I dislike things that are cute, if they are only cute for the sake of being cute and have nothing else to them. But Lilligant does have a bit more to it: an appealing design, aswell as being quite capable in battle. I used one during my run of Pokémon White and man, for something that looks this fragile, it hits like a TRUCK! A monstertruck, even! I really like that bizarre image.

Also when I had it use Giga Drain on a Vanillite, I’d imagine what I drew in the picture above. Video games are much more fun if you use your imagination.

The flower on top of Lilligants head my resemble a rafflesia, but if anything the games tell us about Lilligant, it is not one, as the rafflesia smells terrible. It’s possibly based on several citrus fruits or certain flowers that are used for aromatherapy. In addition, it also incorporates a (not so) weird mix between high class attire of the late 18th century and a dancer.

Gameplay-wise, Lilligant has very high Special Attack, good Speed and decent defenses. Its ability can be either Own Tempo (which can be used in a combo with Petal Dance) or Chlorophyll (which makes it a useful teammember for a Sunny Day team). It can also use other useful moves such as Quiver Dance, Growth, Synthesis, Giga Drain and Sleep Powder. Since it can learn Sleep Powder, Dream Eater also becomes an option, but is a bit risky.
