In my opinion the writers make Spike the innocent dork character too often.

I prefer to see him in the sarcastic straight man role. Just cause. Every show needs a sarcastic straight man. We’ve got enough bumbling idiots.

It’s a show for little girls idiot. Sarcasm is  rated T for teens.
