Superman’s sheer anger over Billy Batson’s situation is a sight to behold. Batman and Robin get away with it because he knows it’s the world’s best internship and that Bruce is willing to put out all the stops to protect him. But Billy? He doesn’t have anyone looking out for him. And that pisses off Superman more than anything.
Seriously, Clark’s face here
He is ready to kick the ass of whoever put this boy in this situation SO HARD
Next page he really lets the Wizard Shazam have it.
Shit, son. I might have to buy this book for those last two panels alone.
When Superman is written well he is an amazing goddamned character.
these few pages are some of my favourite in comic book history. So good. For anyone wondering what the next few pages look like, here you go:
This is a bigger deal than some of you might think, because Superman is one of the heroes in the DC Universe who keeps his secret identity pretty damn secret, because as probably the most powerful and influential person on earth, a lot of people do not wish him well - and would jump at the chance to hold people dear to him as leverage.
Yet, he trusts this poor, scared little kid. To comfort him, and entrust him with his biggest secret - just as Billy did for him.
“Conciudadanos:- No vaciléis pues un momento: tomad las armas, arrojad del poder a los usurpadores, recobrad vuestros derechos de hombre libres y recordad que nuestros antepasados nos legaron una herencia de gloria que no podemos mancillar. Sed como ellos fueron: invencibles en la guerra, magnánimos en la victoria. —SUFRAGIO EFECTIVO, NO REELECCIÓN”
The maderist movement was the first, the one that started it all. Aiming for a nation where the voice of the people would finally be heard, a nation where the men in charge wouldn’t do just as they please, a nation with a true democracy.
The ideologies took the country by storm, and the uprisings gave way to big names such as Fracisco Villa in the north and Emiiano Zapata in the south. The promises of justice and equality would fuel the fire in the hearts of an enraged nation.
i read about that au of Manolo having to go to Spain leaving Maria and Joaquin in Mexico. I imagine Maria becoming a badass soldadera, and Joaquin becoming a sergeant or something. Joaquin is really impressed by Maria and he think she’s the strongest person ever and he wants to be like her but its all a secret. Maria turned into a soldadera to fight for her people and to show her father that she’s strong too. So, I imagined, what could have happened to Manolo while staying in Spain? Maybe his bullfighting practice got harder and harder until they forced him to kill a bull, or a few, without having the chance to escape or to retreat, so he did it and now he carries sadness shame and anger with him and he doesnt want to go back to mexico because he cant see maria in the eyes, he feels like his hands are covered in blood all the time so he avoids touching anyone, eventhough he wants to do something to be forgiven.
oops
Now that’s my kind of AU
…Soldaderas were members of the insurgent army. The Mexican army were serving under Díaz.
