You know what? Peridot’s influence has been saving the Earth from the beginning, although unintentionally.

Her mission was to check on the cluster. Not activate it. Even without her, it would eventually have emerged and destroyed the planet. If Peridot hadn’t been sent to Earth, she wouldn’t have met the Crystal Gems. She wouldn’t have called for reinforcements. She wouldn’t have gotten stranded. She wouldn’t have teamed up with the Crystal Gems for the sake of survival. She would never have told them about the cluster. They would have never found out about the cluster. They would never stop the cluster. The Earth would suddenly be destroyed.

The Crystal Gems owe Yellow Diamond a favour, really, for sending Peridot their way.
