Scorpions are not like other species- Mostly in that they are not a distinct species. Much like jellyfish are made from colonies of bacteria or Devastator is made from several smaller Constructicons, Scorpions are made from colonies of ants that join together to form a larger, more dangerous insect.
In the photo above, we see about 75 Scorpion Ants joining to form a Red Hatter Scorpion. The process only takes a few seconds, and most Scorpion Ant colonies can form around fifty scorpions on short notice to protect the colony from bees, the ants natural predator. Once joined, the ants in the head region of the construct control the others in unison. Once the colony is safe, the ants will break down back into individual ants and go about their business.
This fact about the nature of scorpions was only discovered in 2011, leading scientists to test which other animals are made of ants. New species of joining insects are found each day and nobody knows which animal will turn out to be made of ants next.
