The Ouroboros may appear to be a snake in a circular pose, biting its own tail, but that’s because it’s always depicted from the same angle. The truth is that the Ouroboros is actually curled in a longer coil with its mouth open to appear as if it’s swallowing its tail. One could see this if you were to rotate illustrations of it 90 degrees. The coil forms a perfect spring shape, and once affixed upon the Magician’s staff in the proper manner, can be ridden like a pogo stick.
